The brief
Bulk sourcing runs on trust. Build the machine that earns it.
A retailer in one city buys a pallet of phones from a seller in another, sight unseen, and has to know exactly what is arriving and what the paperwork will say. That only works if the stock is verified, the buyer is verified, and every order ends in a proper GST invoice.
Script Lanes built the whole thing from scratch — first commits in May 2025. The buyer app, the operations dashboard, the backend, and the marketing site: four repositories, one team. It went live and has been shipping ever since.
The market
This trade buys in lots, not units.
The buyers here are retailers, liquidators, and online sellers. They take phones, laptops, and audio gear a pallet at a time, below wholesale, and resell them. A good lot does not sit around waiting to be considered — it is claimed, or it is won in an auction that closes on a clock.
Payment terms matter as much as price. A buyer who can settle next month buys more this month. So Rocketdeal takes card and bank rails, and carries a credit line of its own.
The build
Four pieces. One source of truth.
Buyers, the operations team, and anyone arriving from a search need different things, so each got its own surface: a React Native app on both stores, a Next.js 15 dashboard behind the counter, the API that holds the rules, and the marketing site. Separate apps, shared truth. Every one of them reads the same Prisma schema.
Buyer app
React Native on iOS and Android. Browse verified lots, claim a deal, bid, check out, and follow the shipment.
Live auctions
Lots go up on a timer. Bids land, the clock runs down, and the winner checks out in the same app.
Deals engine
Fixed-price bulk lots with stock counts, approval before they go live, and an expiry the scheduler enforces.
Ops dashboard
Next.js 15 — deals, auctions, orders, KYC, repayments, and warehouses in one internal cockpit.
Credit & repayments
Buyer credit limits, a virtual card, per-order grace periods, and a ledger that keeps its own books.
GST & invoicing
Every order produces a proper GST invoice as a server-rendered PDF — intrastate or interstate, worked out from the GSTIN.
The lifecycle runs on the minute.
Deals and auctions start themselves, expire themselves, and cancel themselves if nobody approves them — and a cancellation puts the stock count back in the same transaction it took it from. Abandoned checkouts hold for 30 minutes; RTGS orders get three days. Eight cron jobs move the whole calendar, so no one has to.
A credit line, built in-house.
Buyers get a limit, a virtual card, and a per-order grace period, with a repayment ledger that accrues interest at midnight IST. It is ordinary fintech plumbing, written into the marketplace itself — so the business could offer terms without waiting on a bank integration.
GST, done properly.
The invoice engine reads the GSTIN and works out the rest: CGST plus SGST within a state, IGST across state lines, rendered to a PDF on the server. e-Way Bill PDFs are parsed into structured data on upload, defensively enough that a change in someone else's layout never breaks the flow.
Security at the edge.
Signup is gated by invite code. Every buyer and seller is KYC-verified on PAN and GST, with the GSTIN checked against a live verification API. In the app, login is Face ID or fingerprint and screenshots are blocked — pricing this sharp is not meant to leave the room.
Reliability
Money, stock, and deadlines all move on a clock.
A marketplace is judged on its worst five minutes, not its best. Here a job can expire an auction, restore stock, book a courier, or charge interest — so every one of them is written to be run again safely, and to leave a record when something outside us fails.
Schedulers that can't trip over themselves.
The cron jobs carry re-entrancy guards, so a slow run never gets a second copy of itself racing alongside it. Stock changes go back through the database in a single transaction — a cancelled deal leaves the counts exactly as it found them.
Courier bookings that survive a bad day.
Waybills are booked with the courier partner through an integration that records its failures instead of swallowing them, and retries without booking twice. A scheduler syncs shipment tracking, and a change in status pushes a notification to the buyer's phone.
Remote force-update, per platform.
The app checks a minimum version on launch, set separately for iOS and Android. When a build has to go, it goes — nobody is left transacting on last quarter's code.
Boring, well-trodden, in production.
